4th Annual Holiday Pack Event

Community Event to Send 1,000+ Christmas Packs to Deployed Sailors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – On Saturday, November 16th Troopster Donations is holding its 4th Annual Community Holiday Pack Event at Beach Side Social in Virginia Beach, to pack and send more than 1,000 care packages to Sailors deployed onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) for Christmas. The event is a community-wide volunteer event, open to the public. Participants will get a chance to pack, make and decorate more than 1,000 care packages that will be shipped, same day, to the Sailors of the forward-deployed carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).

More than 24 local businesses and organizations have participated in collecting more than 15,000 non-perishable snack items, cards, letters, toys and other contents to send in support of the USS Abraham Lincoln Sailors, whose deployment was recently extended through the holiday season. Businesses such as Beachside Social, Decorum Furniture, BizConnect HR, Priority Staffing.

Troopster is a military care package organization founded by U.S. Navy Veteran Chelsea Mandello. Troopster was founded to help families, friends and communities easily send care packages to deployed loved ones. Troopster works with the community and families to send care packages to troops overseas and has sent more than 7,000 care packages to troops since launching Thanksgiving Day in 2015.

About Troospter

Troopster was founded by Kentucky native and U.S. Navy veteran, Chelsea Mandello, Thanksgiving day 2015. Chelsea served as a photojournalist for the United States Navy where she deployed across 13 countries and nine naval platforms over the course of seven years. It was during her deployments that she recognized the need to help families, friends and communities send care packages to deployed troops. Troopster is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that travels nation-wide, working with communities and families to send care packages to troops overseas. Troopster has sent more than 7,000 care packages to troops since launching in 2015 and has worked with communities in California, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, Virginia, Delaware, New York, Utah and West Virginia.

Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 consists of flagship USS Abraham Lincoln, embarked Carrier Air Wing 2, San Diego-based guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71), and the embarked Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9, which includes the Everett-based destroyers Momsen and Shoup, as well as the San Diego-based destroyers USS Halsey (DDG 97) and USS Sterett (DDG 104), which will get underway from Naval Base San Diego in the near future.
